This silent epidemic in malaysia today, called diabetes, is contributing to the rising incidence of diabetes in nearly 4.1 million Malaysians in the community. According to current statistics approximately 50% of these Diabetic Patients are expected to sustain a Wound, once in their lifetime, which means that we are easily looking at nearly 2 million Malaysians having a Wound at some stage, besides another 10% of these who could land up with an Amputation. There are currently approximately 425,000 Diabetic Patients with Wounds in the Community and this number is only growing daily. In fact, these days Malaysia is often referred to as the DIABETIC CAPITAL OF SOUTH EAST ASIA.
