Dato Dr R S Kumar began his career as a Doctor with the Ministry of Health in 1978 serving in various capacities. In 2002, after almost 20 years as a solo GP he joined the Qualitas Medical Group, one of the largest Primary Care Group’s in Malaysia, which also has its network of GP Clinics in Australia and Singapore and Bangladesh currently. He is a Honorary Fellow of the College of GP’s India. In 2003 he was conferred the Fellowship of the Indian Academy of Medical Specialities in Family Medicine(FIAMS).
During his tenure with the Qualitas Medical Group, Dato Dr.R.S.Kumar served as the Director of Medical Services for the Group for almost 10 years and then as the Chairman of the Medical Governance Board. He retired in 2023 as their Medical Advisor. He brings with him a vast experience in Primary Care in the region of nearly 40 years and in Woundcare over the last 5 years.
Towards his passion in the field of Woundcare he successfully underwent a structured Course and is a Certified Wound Care Practitioner in Malaysia.
Dr.Kumar was awarded a Certificate of Achievement by the Asian Wound Care Association (AWCA) and the Malaysian Society of Woundcare Professionals (MSWCP).Dato Dr.Kumar received his early training under Prof. Dato Dr.Harikrishnan Nair, the Head of Woundcare Unit at HKL. He also attended a Foundation Program in Wound Care with Wales Woundcare Innovation Centre (WWIC), of Cardiff, UK.
Further, Dato Dr.R.S.Kumar has been involved in the training of empowering more than 180 Primary Care Doctors and Nurses in the skills and management of their GP practice as well as in terms of upgrading their service levels.
He has also been involved in various training Program and is currently the Chairman of the Qualitas Healthcare Woundcare Commitee. Dato RS Kumar has conducted numerous Webinar’s and done public presentations in particular with GP Medical Groups, local Universities, SOCSO and also addressed GP’s at 2 international Conferences in Advanced Wound Care recently.
